When your “button” is pushed, state you are having an emotional response & ask the speaker to clarify the intention of what was said or done.

If you are conflict-avoidant, isolate from the other person and repress your emotions.

Commit to honesty, and verbalize the need for time to process your thoughts & emotions before discussing, then bring it up asap.

If you quickly experience your thoughts/feelings in a situation, aggressively pursue the other person to talk immediately & resolve the situation right away.
Extraordinary;
If you quickly experience your thoughts/feelings, remain composed and process for awhile. Then respectfully approach the other person and share what is on your heart.

If you are afraid to bring something up, sweep it under the rug and pretend you are fine.
Extraordinary;
Take responsibility for thoughts/feelings by respectfully sharing them with the other person.

If the speaker is slow to explain, and to find the right words-interrupt and speak for her/him.
Extraordinary;
As you listen, refuse to think ahead about your rebuttal. Put yourself in the other person’s “shoes” and practice empathy, whether or not you agree.
